The Backdrop

With the popularity of digital snapshot photography, it can feel like everyone is a photographer. However this couldn’t be further from the truth. People still need professional photographers to capture life’s important moments. A high quality photo is still cherished and holds a special place in people’s memories. However, photography is not just capturing a moment in time, a good photograph also has the ability to make the everyday into something of extraordinary beauty. It is something one can look at to get away from the world and appreciate its aesthetic qualities. A true photographer doesn’t only freeze time but is at heart an artist, something everybody appreciates and values.

From a very young age I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures. As the years past, I slowly realized that my occasional pastime had become my full time passion; growing and learning every day from new experiences. I have now developed and diversified myself into shooting anything I can get my camera in front of, adopting more of a modern style, while maintaining the traditional standards of photography. Long story short: photography has become my life… and I couldn’t be happier about it!

I like to shoot anything and everything, but like to shoot shots that haven’t been taken before. I’m never worried about getting down and dirty to get a shot, whether it’s nearly sticking my camera in a lake to get an angle, or hanging over a cliff face to get that stunning depth, I’ll do it, and if I can’t I’ll find a way to make it possible. While my shots of inanimate objects are all about getting the angles and the exposure right, for people and events, I prefer the control offered by a studio setting. The ability to shape and control the lighting is as much an art as taking the shot in the first place, and I absolutely love it.

I have been interested in art since I was a kid. I focused on it all through high school which lead me to pursue my B.A.H. in fine art. I had always been interested in photography but university was where I became addicted and found a true passion. My experience their lead to training in traditional film and darkroom techniques creating a launching pad for digital photography.
